Dr. Samuel Young


Dr. Young is a native of Texas who spent his early childhood in the state. He and his family later moved to San Diego, California where he graduated cum laude from the Bishop's School. He attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN where he majored in molecular biology and graduated summa cum laude. He returned to Texas to attend the University of Texas - Southwestern Medical School which consistently ranks in the top 20 schools in the nation. He finished in the top 10% of his class and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. Dr. Young completed his internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his training with a fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Duke University.

Dr. Young came to Jacksonville in 2006 as an assistant professor of Orthopaedic Surgery for the University of Florida at Shands Jacksonville. Dr. Young founded Young Orthopaedics in 2010 with the intent of providing subspecialty academic level care with the feel and service of a small private practice.

In his spare time, Dr Young stays very active with a daily workout regimen and also plays competitive tennis in several local USTA men's leagues. His wife, Katie is an avid equestrian who competes and teaches in north Florida on the hunter/jumper circuit and joins her husband in tennis as well.
